A teenager has been arrested after two police officers were rushed to hospital following an incident in Hamilton.

The incident took place on Fleming Way in Hillhouse around 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 28. Police say officers approached and spoke to the driver and passenger of a car on the street.

An officer was injured as the vehicle attempted to flee. The car was then involved in a collision with a stationary vehicle a short distance away.

The 22-year-old male passenger and another officer were injured in the collision. Both were rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the 18-year-old male driver left the scene and was later traced. He has now been arrested in connection with the incident and taken to hospital as a precaution.
