A teenage girl has reportedly been sexually assaulted on a bus – as police release CCTV footage in search of a man in connection with the incident.

The 14-year-old victim was allegedly touched inappropriately while traveling on the bus in Brighton, East Sussex.

Police say the teenager was targeted on the 46 bus heading towards Hollingbury in the afternoon of March 25.

The alleged attacker, described by police as a man in his 20s, was sitting next to the teenager during the alleged sexual assault.

Sussex Police say he touched her inappropriately before getting off the bus at Friar Road.

He is believed to have been wearing shorts and sandals at the time of the alleged attack.

The force has since released CCTV footage of a man and issued a statement regarding the incident.

It said: “We are seeking to identify this man following a sexual assault that took place on the 46 bus to Hollingbury on March 25 at around 5pm.

“It was reported that the bus was traveling on Ditchling Road when the victim, a 14-year-old girl, was approached by a man who sat next to her and touched her inappropriately.

“The man reportedly left the bus at Friar Road.

“He was described as being in his 20s, roughly 6′ tall, and wearing shorts and sandals.”

Officers have issued an urgent appeal for anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

They are urging anyone who recognises the man or who witnessed the incident to report it online or call 101 quoting reference 1355 of 25/03.

This comes days after police released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at a Tube station.

Police said the woman was sexually assaulted while standing on the southbound Victoria Line platform at around 9:10 pm on February 25.

The man boarded the same train as the woman and exited at Brixton station, police said.
