Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany is expected to remain in Germany after selling his stunning family home in the leafy area of Cheshire for £3,450,000.

His Bayern Munich team retained the Bundesliga title, pulled off a stunning 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League last week, and he’s committed his future to the German club until 2029.

And now Manchester City fans fear “Captain Kompany” won’t be replacing boss Pep Guardiola anytime soon after selling his six-bedroom mansion in posh Hale Barns.

Belgian ‘Vinnie’ lived in the “Arts and Crafts” style home, called Springwood, with electric gates during his years as a Premier League player and manager.

Last year, it was reported he reduced the asking price by £300,000 down to £3.65M as footballers in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’ – the affluent towns of Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, and Prestbury, and surrounding areas – struggled to sell their homes.

A property source said: “Very little is selling at that end of the market. It’s a lovely house in a good area down a little narrow road you wouldn’t even know was there.

“I would think the buyer has agreed £250,000 off the asking price. Asking prices at the lower end have increased 20 percent in a year, but not much is selling.”

His stunning six-bedroom home comes with an indoor swimming pool, games/media room, and a gym. It also boasts six bathrooms, bespoke stone fireplaces, and a handcrafted kitchen.

The property listing said: “Springwood is an impressive Arts and Crafts-style residence offering extensive accommodation in a private and mature setting.

“Completed in 2009, the property successfully combines traditional architectural detailing with contemporary design, providing approximately 7,600 sq ft of accommodation arranged over four floors and set within about 0.70 acre of landscaped gardens.

A bedroom with a large window and white curtains, a bed with a neutral-toned headboard and bedding, and two abstract art pieces above the bed.

Multi-sport court with artificial turf, basketball hoops, and soccer goals, enclosed by a wooden fence.

“The exterior features decorative stonework, traditional brick elevations, hardwood windows, and a slate roof. Internally, the house offers high ceilings, deep skirting boards, bespoke stone fireplaces, and a handcrafted kitchen.

“The property is entered via oversized double doors into a striking reception hall with floor-to-ceiling glazing and a split-level American walnut staircase.

“A formal drawing room with bay window lies to the front, while to the rear is the principal living space incorporating an open-plan kitchen, dining area, and day room.

“French doors and a Juliet balcony provide access to an upper terrace overlooking the gardens. A large utility room connects directly to the garage and side entrance.

“The lower ground floor is naturally well lit and includes a substantial games and media room with a fully fitted bar and bi-fold doors opening onto a sun terrace, along with a study.

“The leisure suite comprises a 10m x 4m indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, changing facilities, and shower, creating a private spa environment.

“The first floor features a generous principal bedroom suite with dressing room and en-suite bathroom, together with three further en-suite double bedrooms. The second floor provides two additional double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

“Outside, the gardens are landscaped and offer a high degree of privacy, with lawns, mature planting, and woodland beyond. A play area includes a mini football pitch and basketball court.

“The property is approached via electric gates, with an integral double garage to the front.

“Springwood offers an exceptional opportunity to acquire a substantial, well-appointed home in a secluded setting, combining classic style with modern luxury.”
