Authorities in Guangdong, China, have launched an investigation after a woman allegedly threw around $162,000 in cash from the balcony of a high-rise apartment, triggering chaos on the streets below.
The incident, which was captured on video, shows banknotes raining down as residents and passersby rushed to collect the money. Property management officials later confirmed that the cash was genuine.
The reasons behind the incident remain unclear. According to media reports, the act may have followed a dispute with the woman’s husband, while other accounts suggest she was emotionally distressed after learning about a family friend’s illness.
