Killer’s son films drug-fuelled prison raves on TikTok as victim’s family demand action
The son of a notorious Scottish gangland boss convicted of murder has filmed himself having raves and taking drugs inside UK jails in brazen TikTok videos.
Posing under the username ’HMP Ghost’, Ben McCulloch uploads videos to his account with 2,500 followers boasting his party lifestyle on the inside, as the family of his murder victim have slammed the justice system.
The 31-year-old inmate at HMP Addiewell, in West Lothian, Scotland, took videos boasting of ’jail hooch’ parties, taking ’Spice’, and watching football matches on widescreen TVs while drinking alcohol. gangland boss Brian McCulloch.
In one video, McCulloch films himself with his top off in a packed cell dancing with other inmates, captioned: ’#hmpaddiewell #whosaysjailwizhard #theboys #scottishjail’.
In another, he pans to an unconscious inmate having his head shaved and calls him an ’ugly f*****’. He also filmed a gang of men tying an inmate up whilst he appears high from drugs, and proceeds to drag him out of his cell by his arms and legs.
The captions boast ’whosaysjailwizhard’, ’#hmpaddiewell’, ’#vodie’, and ’#party24_7’. McCulloch and his pals even shout in one video: ’Who said they think jail is hard?!’
The family of murder victim Stephen Quigley, who was stabbed to death by McCulloch in 2021 and left to die on the side of the street, have called the videos ’torture’.
Stephen’s mother, Katie Quigley, has demanded a clampdown on the lawless prison. She said: ’Ben McCulloch killed my boy, who was meant to be his best friend. His lawyer told the court that he was full or remorse but he has not one shred of remorse.
’If he did, how could he be posting videos about having 24 hour parties?’
She added to the Daily Record: ’I had to identify my dead son and that awful day will stay with me for as long as I am alive.
’Is it too much to ask for prisons to stop these gangsters reminding the families of all the people they have killed or victimised that they are running the jails?’
Ms Quigley said things were ’out of control’, noting that cells full of drunk men with access to the internet showed a complete ’lack of remorse’.
The videos also showed inmates at the prison rapping along to drill music in rooms kitted with stereos and designer shoes, while using illegal mobile phones.
In one, they film themselves laughing as they set fire to a tissue stuck up an inmate’s nose while he sleeps. Others showed them appearing to smoke cigars.
HMP Addiewell is Scotland’s only privately-run prison. The Category A prison, which holds around 800 male prisoners, has been at the centre of a string of scandals.
In December, the Mail on Sunday revealed that over the past decade, HMP Addiewell released 10 violent prisoners by mistake, who were free to roam the country for up to a year.
In 2021, an inmate filmed himself snogging a female prison officer, and staff have said they faced ’unprecedented threats’ from the inmates in recent years.
So-called ’TikTok prisoners’ are not unique to HMP Addiewell either. In a brief search on the platform, the Daily Mail found 15 accounts which appeared to be run by UK prisoners from their jail cells, most of which included them having parties.
An HMP Addiewell spokesperson said: ’We are aware of the videos, and our investigations have established that they relate to historical incidents from several months ago.
’The use and conveyance of illicit items, including mobile phones, is illegal in any prison. We constantly review our practices and deploy a range of tactics to prevent such items from being introduced.
’We take these matters extremely seriously – any individual found in possession of illicit items is immediately reported to the relevant authorities, with appropriate action taken.’
