Eight dead after attack on Iranian bridge following Trump escalation rhetoric

Eight people have been killed and 95 are injured after a strike on Iran’s largest bridge following Donald Trump’s threat to send the country ‘back to the Stone Age’.

After the chilling threat on Wednesday night, the President posted footage of the B1 bridge in Karaj, around 20 miles (32 kilometers) from Tehran, in flames.

The startling footage showed the 136 meter high bridge crumbling with photos later emerging of the crossing having been split in two.

Boasting on Truth Social, Trump said: "The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow!"

Trump added: "IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!"

Regime media confirmed that two strikes had hit the bridge, which stretches more than 1 kilometer and links two of Iran’s largest cities.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X: “Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender.

“It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray.”

After signaling an end to military operations, Trump then pledged that he was going to send Iran "back to the stone ages, where they belong" with new strikes in the region.
