The former prince has been spotted on the Sandringham Estate looking longingly at horses after he was reportedly banned from riding in the wake of his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor appeared downcast as he was spotted watching horses after reportedly being banned from riding in the wake of his shock arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
The former prince has been accused of sharing sensitive information with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy, but the exact reason for the arrest has not been disclosed. Andrew denies any wrongdoing.
Andrew’s aides worry that his being seen smiling on horseback while under police investigation is a "bad look", the Sun previously reported.
The pictures also come after the Mirror exclusively reported that Andrew has been told to clear out the his former Windsor home, the 30-room Royal Lodge, by King Charles.
Andrew had lived at the lodge for over 20 years, paying a peppercorn rent after signing an initial lease worth £7.5million in 2002.
Royal aides have, in the past few days, been clearing out the remaining possessions from Royal Lodge, including the staff quarters where Andrew was waited on night and day.
A number of skips have been loaded and removed from the estate, with removal vans seen coming and going. Staff have also been seen setting fire to further unwanted belongings of their own.
One source said: "Andrew was told everything has to be out and absolutely nothing was to be left behind. He hasn’t been back to collect anything, leaving staff to Everything has to be out by the weekend and we’ve been told no trace of the former occupants or staff should remain."
Palace sources insisted the burning of furniture and other items on the estate belonged to Andrew’s former staff.
