Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and grievous bodily harm after a child tragically died in hospital from serious injuries.
Police have launched a murder investigation after a child who had suffered serious injuries tragically died in hospital.
A 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have now been arrested on suspicion of murder and grievous bodily harm in connection with the death in Slough, Berkshire. Both have since been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
Thames Valley Police said the arrests were made "following an initial investigation". Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit at Thames Valley Police, said: "This is an exceptionally tragic incident, in which a child has sustained serious injuries and, very sadly, has subsequently tragically passed away in hospital.
"Our enquiries are still at an early stage. Two individuals have been arrested in relation to this incident and have been released on conditional police bail while our investigation continues and further lines of enquiry are explored.
"I appreciate that an incident of this nature will cause significant concern within the community. However, based on the information we have at this time, we do not believe there is any broader threat to the public."
