Claims of two buried girls trigger investigation at Epstein’s remote ranch

There have been a number of disturbing allegations to come out of the release of the Epstein files. Among the most concerning is the claim that two bodies are buried in the grounds of one of the convicted sex offender’s homes.

This week, a search by investigators got underway at Epstein’s 8,000 acre New Mexico home, ‘Zorro Ranch’. It was carried out at the direction of New Mexico attorney general, Raúl Torrez, acting on the new information released in the files - including allegations about bodies at the property.

It stems back to 2019 when Eddy Aragon - a radio host and former mayoral candidate - received an anonymous email alleging the bodies of ‘two foreign girls’ were buried ‘somewhere in the hills outside the Zorro’ on the orders of Epstein.

"Both died by strangulation during rough, fetish sex," said the writer, who claimed to be a former staff member at the ranch. Aragon forwarded the email to the FBI, and it was among the millions of documents released in the Epstein files.

Zorro Ranch, located in the high desert south of the state capital Santa Fe, is mentioned thousands of times in the tranche, and it has long been reported to have served as one of Epstein’s sites for sexual abuse and trafficking. There have been rumours for years that the paedophile used the vast and remote property to conceal his child sex-trafficking operations. There are also unsubstantiated claims that Epstein had spoken about his plans to impregnate multiple women at the ranch in line with his obsession with eugenics and a desire to engineer genetically ‘superior’ children.

A number of witnesses, both men and women, have claimed Epstein used the secluded property to conduct nonconsensual medical procedures in order to advance his alleged interest in selective breeding.

"We have people coming forward saying they were drugged, had sex organs and sperm harvested from their bodies, and woke up around medical equipment not knowing where they were or what happened to them," New Mexico State Representative Andrea Romero told the Daily Mail.

Epstein bought the ranch in 1993 from the family of former New Mexico governor Bruce King. It was sold by Epstein’s estate in 2023.

Zorro Ranch is now owned by former Texas state Senator Don Huffines, who purchased the property from the Epstein estate in 2023. He pledged proceeds from the sale to the late sex-trafficker’s victims and said he would cooperate with any law enforcement request, but the change in ownership and the passing of time has raised fears that any critical physical evidence may have been lost.

On Tuesday, state legislators set up an ‘Epstein Truth Commission’ which is working alongside the office of State Attorney General Torrez. The bipartisan, four-member panel is investigating allegations that the ranch might have facilitated sexual abuse and sex trafficking.

One of the state legislators on the panel, Andrea Romero of Santa Fe, told the BBC: "We are learning that there may have been reports to the FBI, back in 2019 or prior to, of bodies being buried, of folks being trafficked."

Marianna Anaya, a freshman Democratic legislator and a central figure on the Truth Commission, further told the Independent: "As we’re digging through the files, we’re seeing some of Epstein’s older interviews in which he actually says why he bought the ranch in New Mexico, which I thought was interesting.

"He talks about the fact that it’s close to the labs — Los Alamos in particular, but also Sandia National Labs. The New York Times had a big article on him many years ago about him wanting to establish a baby ranch here in New Mexico."

"It’s so dark and perplexing, and I know that if you mention this to someone, it sounds very conspiratorial," Romero added. "But we need to get down to the truth of what really happened here in our own backyard."

Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting sex from girls as young as 14. After his death in a prison in 2019, a woman identified only as Jane Doe said Epstein had raped her at the ranch when she was 15. Another woman, Annie Farmer, said Ghislaine Maxwell touched her breasts at the ranch when she was a teenager.
