Russian Railways executives detained in major corruption case

A source cited by media reported the detention of high-ranking employees of Russian Railways (RZD).

According to the source, the following individuals were detained yesterday: Aleksey Kadushkin, Head of the Rolling Stock Preservation Department of the Rolling Stock Management Directorate of the Central Directorate of Infrastructure, and Alexander Averbukh, Head of the Department for Traffic Safety Organization and Approval of Rolling Stock Access to Infrastructure within the same Central Directorate of Infrastructure.

For more than seven years, under the guise of concern for “traffic safety” and the “implementation of innovative technologies,” they allegedly built a stable scheme to monetize the approval of railcars for operation.
