Tony Blair named to Trump’s Gaza “board of peace” by White House

Former UK prime minister Sir Tony Blair will take part in Donald Trump’s new Gaza “board of peace,” a White House initiative aimed at establishing long-term stability and a sustained peace in the territory.

Blair was listed as a member of the “founding executive board” in an announcement published by the White House. The board is intended to lead long-term peace and stabilisation efforts in Gaza and the wider Middle East.

Other members named include US secretary of state Marco Rubio, Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, billionaire investor Marc Rowan, World Bank president Ajay Banga, and US deputy national security adviser Robert Gabriel.

According to the White House, the founding board will help “operationalise the Board of Peace’s vision,” with members each overseeing specialist portfolios linked to Gaza’s stabilisation. These areas include governance, regional relations, reconstruction, investment, funding, and capital mobilisation.

Blair’s name also appeared on a broader list described as a “Gaza Executive Board,” which appears designed to play a role in governing the territory. The White House said the initiative is based on a 20-point plan presented as a roadmap toward “lasting peace, stability, reconstruction, and prosperity” in Gaza.

The panel will be chaired by Trump and is expected to work alongside international leaders and other senior figures as part of the administration’s approach to the conflict.
