A 27-year-old NHS worker has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two patients while performing bladder scans during his time as a trainee at a Welsh hospital

An NHS worker has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two patients at a hospital in Wales.

Ieuan Crump, 27, worked as a trainee health worker at the Grange Hospital in Cwmbran in August 2021, during which time he assaulted two different patients on two different occasions.

One of the victims told Cardiff Crown Court during the trial that Crump sexually assaulted her with his finger in the presence of a female health worker who had been trying to insert a catheter into the patient’s bladder. Crump then returned to the room alone and said he needed to check there was no swelling before repeating the previous sexual assault, the court was told.

A second victim said that Crump had touched her genitals during a bladder scan and asked her if they were sore.

Crump had denied all charges against him, but following the trial he was found guilty of nine charges of sexual assault, including three counts of assault by penetration.

Judge Vanessa Francis granted Crump bail until sentencing, but said she would be giving him a prison sentence "of some length".
