Police seek witnesses after teen girl raped by two men

Two teenage boys are thought to have rushed to help the young girl and fought off the attackers, before a woman ensured the victim was alright following the alleged rape.

A teenage girl was "raped by two men" while walking alone on Saturday night, prompting the police to launch an urgent appeal to find three people who helped fend off the attackers.

The girl was confronted by two men while walking in Reading at around 10pm on Saturday night. Thames Valley Police report that the men "attempted to engage her in conversation".

According to the authorities, the two men and the victim walked to Prince of Wales Avenue, between Elm Park Road and Albany Road, where the young girl was attacked and raped. Police describe the two attackers as "white, bald men, of slim build, and both clean shaven".

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Sukhveer Sokhi, of Thames Valley Police, is now seeking to speak to three Good Samaritans who rushed to the victim’s aid. Two males, believed to be teenage boys, are thought to have "had an altercation" with the two men at around 10:25pm.

A woman is then believed to have assisted the victim after she walked into nearby Elm Park Road. Police are eager to speak to these three people and anyone else who may have witnessed the attack.

DI Sokhi stated: “I understand that this crime will cause concern in the local community. I can reassure local residents that Thames Valley Police is carrying out a thorough investigation.

“I am appealing to the three Good Samaritans who assisted the victim after the crime to come forward. First, two males, possibly teenagers, who intervened and had a confrontation with the offenders in Prince of Wales Avenue around 10:25pm.

“Shortly after this confrontation, the victim then walked into Elm Park Road, where a black woman helped her. We are appealing to these three Good Samaritans to step forward, as what you saw and heard will aid our investigation.

“If you are the Good Samaritans or know who they are, please contact the police. You can visit a police station, reach out via our website, or call 101, quoting investigation reference number 43250584676. We have officers and staff in the community conducting house-to-house and CCTV inquiries.
