A gyrocopter pilot executed a daring emergency landing in a field after the propeller was struck and damaged over Greater Manchester.

According to witnesses on social media, the black aircraft was observed ‘spinning’ in the air before it ‘fell out of the sky’.

It crash landed in a field near the village of Lostock at around 1:25 pm on Thursday.

A witness captures the moment the gyrocopter veers to the right and descends from the sky.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: ‘We received reports of a gyrocopter crash on Kilworth Drive in Lostock, Bolton.

‘Officers attended the scene and found the pilot – a man in his 60s. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

‘It is considered to have been a forced landing rather than a crash. Air accident investigators are currently examining the incident.’

First responders arrive at the scene of the crash

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: ‘At 1:40 pm on Thursday (November 13), four fire engines from Bolton Central, Eccles, and Atherton fire stations, in addition to the technical rescue unit from Leigh fire station, were called following reports of a helicopter making an emergency landing in a field off Kilworth Drive, Lostock.
