Heavy showers threaten flooding in Dumfries, Borders, and Ayrshire

A flood warning has been issued by the Met Office for parts of southern Scotland due to frequent heavy showers.

The yellow rain warning is in effect from 3am to 10am on Monday, September 1.

The regions and local authorities affected are Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders, East Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire.

Some areas could receive 40-50mm of rain where showers are particularly intense, with 15-30mm expected more broadly.

The forecaster stated that this volume of rain could lead to surface water flooding during the morning rush hour and cause travel disruptions.

Bus and train services will likely be impacted, while spray and flooding on roads are also expected to extend travel times.

The yellow warning covers Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders, East Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire dqxikeidqkikdinv
