Arrests in London at rally supporting banned pro-Palestinian group

London police on Saturday detained more than 20 people following a protest in support of the banned pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action, which has been linked to the sabotage of military aircraft.

This was reported by the BBC.

Photos from the demonstration show a small group of people holding signs that read, “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.”

As of Saturday, Palestine Action has been banned in the UK under terrorism legislation.

This means that membership in or support for the group is now a criminal offense and can be punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

The UK government accused the activists of causing millions in damages due to actions at the Thales facility in 2022, against Elbit Systems in 2024, and during an incident at an airbase in June, when two military aircraft were damaged.

Representatives of Palestine Action claim they are protesting the UK’s support for Israel over its actions in the Gaza Strip.
