Germany and Israel to establish joint cyber research center as part of ’cyber dome’ initiative
Germany plans to create a joint German-Israeli cyber research center and deepen cooperation between the two countries’ intelligence and security services.
This was announced on Sunday by German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, according to Reuters.
Dobrindt, who was appointed last month by new Chancellor Friedrich Merz, arrived in Israel on Saturday.
“Military defense alone is not sufficient in this security turning point. Significant improvements in civil defense are also necessary to strengthen our overall defense capabilities,” Dobrindt said during his visit to Israel, as quoted by the German newspaper Bild.
According to Bild, Dobrindt outlined a five-point plan aimed at building a so-called “cyber dome” for Germany as part of its national cybersecurity strategy.
