Putin failed to pronounce Xi Jinping’s name
The president of the aggressor state, Vladimir Putin, hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Moscow ahead of the May 9 military parade. However, the meeting was not without its awkward moments.
Putin, who had previously failed to pronounce the name of Kazakhstan’s president, once again stumbled—this time over the name of Xi Jinping. The video of the incident surfaced online shortly after the meeting.
Putin fails to pronounce Xi Jinping’s name
During Kremlin talks, the “old man” Putin once again struggled with a foreign name—this time mispronouncing the name of China’s leader. Xi Jinping turned into “Sizipin.”
“Welcome, dear Mr. Sizipin, a respected friend,” Putin declared.
He pretended everything was correct and didn’t even try to correct himself—though perhaps he genuinely believes that’s how Xi’s name is pronounced.
While Putin may think the Chinese leader’s name is “Sizipin,” let it be clear: for educated and reasonable people, it is Xi Jinping.
