Iran has executed a man convicted of spying for Israel and accused of playing a key role in the assassination of an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer.

Bloomberg reports this, citing the state-affiliated outlet Mizan.

Mohsen Langarneshin was accused of cooperating with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad for more than two years.

According to Mizan, he was allegedly recruited and trained in 2020. Langarneshin was executed early Wednesday morning.

In February, Turkish security forces arrested seven individuals on suspicion of passing information to the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. The arrests followed a joint raid by police and members of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) in Istanbul and the western city of Izmir.

Mossad allegedly used private detectives to monitor, photograph, and track members of Hamas.
