A teenage boy has been charged in connection with an assault on a Glider in west Belfast on Easter Sunday.

It happened when the Translink vehicle was in the Divis area of the city at around 6.50pm.

Police previously said they were investigating an altercation which broke out involving approximately 20 youths.

“A passenger, who intervened, was attacked, sustaining injuries to his face and head," a spokesperson said.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment.”

Detectives have charged a 15-year-old suspect with common assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The boy is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 19.

The PSNI said the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service as is usual procedure.
