A man has been charged with the murder of a six-week-old baby.

Lancashire Police was called to Squires Wood, Fulwood in Preston at around 1.30am following reports that a baby boy had been taken to hospital with a head injury on 14 June 2022.

The boy, Huxley Sayle, never recovered and died a month later on 14 July 2022.

Police said the little boy’s cause of death was a "traumatic head injury".

A 31-year-old man from Fulwood was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Wounding on 18 June 2022. He was later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service on Thursday 27 March, Peter Sayle, of Squires Wood, Fulwood, was charged with Huxley’s murder.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Preston Magistrates Court on Friday 28 March.
