Netflix has cancelled the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park after two seasons, the creator of the show has said as he shared the news with a "heavy heart".
The project - which centres on a haunted theme park - debuted on the streaming platform in June last year, with its second season having later been released in October.
Created by Hamish Steele - who authored the graphic novel series DeadEndia which it's based on - the show has been praised for its LGBTQ+ representation and diverse characters.
He however recently announced that Dead End: Paranormal Park had been cancelled by Netflix, sharing a statement about the news on his Twitter account a few days ago.
Dead End: Paranormal Park debuted last year (Netflix)He wrote: "I've held onto this news for a while now, hoping that we could reverse it, change it, make something good out of it. But sadly I don't think that's possible right now."

"It's with a heavy heart that I tell you Dead End is over. Obviously we never wanted this to be the case. In fact, we did a writers room for Season 3.
"We have scripts and designs and outlines ready to go. It was always the plan to give these characters the proper ending they deserve. But sadly, the powers that be don't want any more."

Hamish expressed gratitude to Netflix for commissioning the show and "giving [them] the freedom to tell this story," adding: "We made history together and I couldn’t be prouder of those twenty episodes and every single member of our crew."
The creator thanked fans for their support, and teased in his post: "We will finish this story some day, some how. For now, I am working hard on the third and final DeadEndia book which I hope offers some closure."
Its creator Hamish Steele however has said it's been cancelled by Netflix (Netflix)He concluded: "But until then, I hope Barney, Norma, Pugsley, Courtney and the whole Phoenix Parks crew will continue to give you comfort in times of darkness."
Fans have shared expressed upset and anger since his post, with Hamish having said it "shows the impact" the show had and "how much what we made meant to people."
