Roast dinners are a sacred topic in the UK, with debates raging on whether Yorkshire puddings should be allowed or how much gravy is too much. One thing is for certain, there are set essentials when having a roast and straying too far can cause outrage among the devoted fans.
One man has taken things a step too far with his unusual addition to a classic roast dinner, which his concerned girlfriend then posted on Reddit for all to see - and judge.
His roast included mixed vegetables, chicken, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and an obscene amount of cheese piled on top.

What looks to be a grated cheddar covers half the plate, all over the meat and Yorkshires. It's such a dense amount of cheese that it's impossible to see what's underneath, with a few roast potatoes creeping out the side.

The original poster, from a now deleted account, put this on the subreddit CasualUK with the caption: "can someone tell my why my boyfriend put cheese on his Sunday roast?!"
Commenters were equally shocked, one said: "It's clearly a cry for help" while others joked that he must be "pregnant" due to the weird food craving.
"Hope you're not too attached to your boyfriend because it's time to dump him for this crime against humanity. Take all his cheese when you go," added another.
A fourth joked: "I respect you for standing by him through this obviously deeply troubled time he's going through."
Others defended the boyfriend, saying: "He likes cheese". Another added: "Because he wants to and can do what he likes with his food. Leave him to it, this is hurting nobody else."
Some pointed out that cheese can be a great addition to a roast, when paired correctly such as macaroni cheese which is commonplace among some cultures when diving into a roast.
One commenter said: "There are ways to add cheese to a roast. I’ll often have either cheesy leeks or cauliflower cheese with a roast."
Many forgot the offending cheese and focus instead on the "boiled frozen veg medley" criticising the roast itself, which most assumed the poster had cooked herself.
"It's all burnt and dry. Poor lad, there's more moisture in the porcelain plate," one said.
