A couple who have a big height difference have been branded the "Green Giant" and her "daughter" but say their "haters make us famous".

When two people fall in love, they often say it was love at first sight, and they just knew they were meant to be together. Lizzy Groombridge, 29, has embraced that she is over a foot taller than her partner Candie Dixon, 31. The duo hit it off after speaking on Instagram - when they met in real life it was instant love.

Lizzy, who is 6ft 3in, and Candie who is 4ft 11in girlfriend began sharing their relationship on social media but were stunned to find they received backlash. Lizzy was labelled "Green Giant" by commenters and people said they thought Candie was her "daughter". They also said Candie looked "old in the face" - but still Lizzie was more likely to be "her mum".

The pair laugh it off - and have started up a joint OnlyFans account to capitalise on their difference. Now, the couple claim they make £4-5k a month each with their joint content alone - they say it makes them feel "empowered".

Speaking about how people have reacted to her relationship, Lizzy, from Truro, Cornwall, said: "People say all the time, we look like mother and daughter - it's all based on the fact that I'm over a foot taller. I'm often made to feel like my height is abnormal in society - whereas my girlfriend's height isn't, even though she’s shorter than average.

"I think it’s strange that people find it appropriate to ask intrusive questions about my height - I don't really mind people asking things like, 'are your parents tall?’ and 'have you always been this tall?’ - but it is weird. We don't get a lot of people saying things while we’re out-and-about, it's mostly online.

She continued: "People say we look like mother and daughter - or they’ll insult Candie saying she looks older. I get called Green Giant, and asked why I wear heels to make myself even taller. But ultimately, we build each other up and we validate each other - those people aren’t relevant to us."

Candie, a full-time OnlyFans creator who lives with Lizzie in Truro, said: "We get a lot of hate, to be honest. Most of them call Lizzy a giant but then contradict themselves by saying I look like her mum. It's so strange! My favourite motto is - 'haters make me famous' - so Lizzy and I just rise above them and love the life we live together."

Lizzie and Candie met on Instagram midway through 2021 - after Candie kept tagging Lizzie in photos to get her attention. They spoke for a few months before finally meeting in November.

Lizzie says there was never any demarcation between the friendship ending and the relationship beginning - and everything happened "naturally". Lizzie said: "We skipped all the stages of awkwardness, like farting in front of each other - as silly as that sounds. We're just more similar as people. I've never dated a woman before - but I see her for the person she is, at the end of the day."

In the last month, Lizzie has decided to include Candie more in her OnlyFans content - and says she gets a number of "niche" requests related to their height difference. Now, the pair make £4-5k a month each with their joint content alone - and say it makes them feel "empowered".

"Now monetised our height difference - and we’re turning the comments into more of a positive," said Lizzie.
