Mum 'ruins' baby's first words with rude gesture while filming viral video
Your baby's first words often come when you least expect it - and the event has definitely given this mum a story to tell.
Chelsea Jeffrey was horrified when her 10-month-old daughter Willow said 'mama' for the very first time because she accidentally ruined the precious moment by filming a viral TikTok trend. The mum-of-one was sticking two fingers up at her baby as part of a social media prank when the little one decided to speak for the first time, and although her "heart sank" at first, she quickly realised how "hilarious" the video would be.
The 19-year-old woman still uploaded the video to TikTok, and was soon inundated with comments declaring it the "best first word video ever". While some were appalled that Chelsea would stick two fingers up at her child, most saw the funny side, and the mum insisted it will make a great story for her to tell Willow when she's older.

But then the minute I [put two fingers up at her to swear], she did it. I was just pretending and I was supposed to cut the video straight after I'd done it but then she screamed out 'mama'. I was like 'oh my god'. I froze and my heart sank. It was just the perfect timing and just hilarious.
"After the video, I ran next door to my mum and said 'she's done it, she's said mama'. My mum just thought it was brilliant. We'd been trying to get her to say it for weeks so she just said 'I cannot believe she did that in that moment'. I don't think it could have gone better."

The trend Chelsea was taking part in stems from a video of a group of women claiming that "feminists hate children", as social media users respond to their comments with their video reactions. In her clip, Chelsea - who is a self-proclaimed feminist - was supposed to mock the idea by swearing at her baby, and even tells her tot she was "only joking" as she cuddles her.
And despite the video splitting opinion online, Chelsea is happy she managed to capture the milestone on camera - even if it didn't quite go the way she had planned. She added: "In my mind I was like 'I cannot believe I've got that on video'. Everything else that she's done, I've never got it on film. When she sat up for the first time and she started crawling, I've just got that as a memory.

The mum thinks Willow will laugh at the video when she's older (Kennedy News and Media)"I can't wait until she's older and she goes 'oh what was my first word' and I'll be like 'let me show you'. It'll be such a funny video for her to look back on. At first I was a bit nervous to show my dad and gran as I can't cut [the swearing] out of the video but they all thought it was hilarious, and they loved it."
The mum admitted she was also nervous about putting the video online as she knew some people would react negatively to it, but she insisted there was "no harm" done.
"I wasn't sure if I should post the video or not because people might think I'm just giving her the finger and wouldn't get the joke. But I thought I'd post it anyway as it's her first word," Chelsea explained, "There was one comment that was my favourite saying 'you scared the 'mama' right out of her' and I loved the ones saying she's a little feminist.
"There were some negative ones saying 'I'd never think to do this to a child'. I was like honestly it's not that deep. There was no physical harm, she doesn't know what it means. She's going to grow up and watch the video and I know as she's my child that she'll find it hilarious. I think there were a few saying 'I'd never do this'. Fair enough, but I did and I don't personally see anything wrong with it."
