'My neighbour keeps reserving street parking with cones - it's so selfish'

There's nothing that infuriates homeowners quite so much as parking squabbles, and understandably so. Nobody wants to trek half a mile from their car with their kids and shopping in tow, especially if your neighbours don't park considerately.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean drivers can take to reserving parking spots wherever they feel like it. Not only is it against the highway code to leave out cones, but you'll likely incur the wrath of your neighbours for doing so.

If you want to know how annoying the practice can be, just ask one fed-up Reddit user who slammed their neighbour for doing just that.

"Anyone else have a k***head neighbour like this on their road? Any suggestions other than moving the cones and parking there?" their post was titled.

The disgruntled neighbour also shared a snap of the cones - and it is fair to say their problem is worse than most. Brits regularly complain about finding traffic cones in their street, but it's not everyday you find three in a row. As such, several commenters sympathised with the homeowner's situation, especially after learning the problem occurs regularly.

"If someone is doing it once, say if they've got a skip coming in the morning, no problems," one person questioned. "Are they doing this every day?"

The author replied: "Very regularly. I agree - once or twice for a skip etc is understandable."

Meanwhile, other commenters were keen to offer advice. One responder said: "Paper note on the cones "thanks for saving the spot" and leave them by the door."

Another advised: "The council highways team are the correct place to report this".

However, someone else criticised the post's author for their choice of language. "They might also be someone with a disability. It's an option to consider rather than decide straight up they are a k***head," they replied.

What do you think the resident should do? Let us know in the comments.
