Celebrity Big Brother is now just one week away but there's still much speculation about who will be heading into the house for the reality TV show's awaited return.

The show has been off air for six years year but will return next Monday on ITV. It comes after the broadcaster revived Big Brother last year, following in the footsteps of Channel 5 who had previously taken over from Channel 4.

Past series of Celebrity Big Brother saw Gemma Collins uttering the famous phrase "I'm claustrophobic, Darren", David Bowie's death on the outside world sparking concerns 2016 housemate David Gest had passed away and non-celebrity Chantelle Houghton fooling her housemates into believing she was a bonafide pop star.

But what does ITV have in store for viewers next month with its first offering of the star-studded show? Here's everything we know about Celebrity Big Brother 2024 so far, including the start date, its hosts and the rumoured line-up.

When does Celebrity Big Brother 2024 start?

It's been confirmed that Celebrity Big Brother will return on March 4 at 9pm. ITV has also announced that the launch will be live, following some disappointment that last year's Big Brother debuted with a pre-recorded first episode.

Ahead of the launch, there's been speculation about potential housemates. The Mirror recently revealed that Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu is poised to take part after splitting from Davide Sanclimenti.

It also seems a soap star could be joining the fun - Coronation Street favourite Colson Smith looks set to enter the compound, it has been claimed. a source told The Sun: "Colson's character Craig is a huge favourite with soap fans and he's just as likeable and down to earth in real life so don't be surprised if he ends up winning it."

Other names rumoured for the show's return include Katie Price, former the Only Way is Essex star Joey Essex and Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas. Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh is another potential housemate.

There's also speculation that Gary Goldsmith, who is the brother of Kate Middleton's mother Carole Middleton, is keen to be on the show. He's reportedly negotiated a "bumper contract" with bosses and viewers will likely hope that he discusses the Royal Family if he does take part.

Dragons' Den star Levi Roots - who is known for his sauce Reggae Reggae Sauce - is another person rumoured to be taking part. A source told The Mirror last month: "Levi will be great for the Celebrity Big Brother house. He's got a few exciting projects coming up and he's such a fun character."

Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzmin looks set to join the Celebrity Big Brother line-up following his success on the recent BBC series with Layton Williams. However, there are fears this signing could lead to the Ukrainian pro quitting Strictly.

A TV insider told The Sun: “This will send the rumour mill into overdrive, with some already suggesting he may not return to Strictly and is instead making the most of being a rising star. He’ll have been selected by CBB producers as an obvious heartthrob who can spice things up in the house — and maybe even spill some secrets from behind the scenes of Strictly.”

Following his resignation from ITV last year, which included leaving This Morning, it's rumoured that Phillip Schofield could head into the Big Brother house. He's kept a low profile since he admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger colleague, but could step back into the limelight soon. A source told the Sun in October: "CBB is the perfect place for stars who are riding off the wave of a scandal, or something big happening in their lives. [Phillip] is someone they're going to approach."

It was reported that Rebekah Vardy was top of ITV's wish list, with sources claiming she's been considered "TV gold". Bosses were said to have been hopeful that she would open up about Coleen Rooney and the Wagatha Christie case.

However, the Mirror revealed in December that she was axed from the line-up. A source said: "Bosses were prepared to splash out on signing up Becky in the hope she'd dish all on the Wagatha Christie drama. She was at the top of their lists but since the news leaked they have decided to explore other candidates."

Other celebrities rumoured for the new series include content creator Trisha Paytas, the Apprentice star Ryan-Mark Parsons, Jedward, comedian Mo Gilligan, EastEnders actor Linda Henry and Geordie Shore star Nathan Henry.

Alongside Ekin-Su, a host of other Love Island stars have been mentioned as part of rumours for the line-up ahead of the housemates being announced. They include the likes of Chloe Burrows, Tommy Fury and Maura Higgins.
