Walkers have been sending many beloved crisps to the snack graveyard recently, and they've confirmed that yet another flavour has had the chop.

Fans of the quirky and unusual flavour are only just realising that it's been taken off the supermarket shelves - and they're not too impressed by the news that Walkers are "sadly" no longer making them.

The flavour in question? Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam - and while the concept may seem a little random to devout ready-salted lovers, the crisps, which were part of the Oven Baked with Veg range, were clearly a big hit with many, as fans have been asking after them.

A lover of the flavour contacted Walkers on X, formerly Twitter, to ask what had happened to the tasty snack, as they hadn't seen them on the shelves for a while. The woman penned: "Are you still doing the baked crisps, beetroot with chilli sauce flavour?" The official Walkers account responded: "Sadly not but thanks for asking." She fumed: "Well that's not good", followed by an angry face emoji.

Another lover of the quirky snack wrote that they were "really sad" to see the flavour go as they were launched as a healthier alternative to Walkers' standard crisps with 40% less fat - but they've not been seen on shelves since 2021.

Others described them as "so bloody tasty", and a super-fan penned: "The Beetroot and Sweet Chilli Jam are the nicest crisps I've tasted ever and that's a lot coming from a lover of Walkers Sensations Wasabi and Ginger and Sweet Onion and Balsamic."

On Amazon, the crisps have 75% five-star reviews with people raving about the taste, but unfortunately, they're 'currently unavailable', and it's unlikely they'll be returning unless Walkers brings back the flavour. Someone praised: "Tatsed waaaay healthier than those icky greasy crisps", and another said: "Very delicious."

Crisp fans breathed a sigh of relief when Tayto announced they were taking on a reboot of Marmite-flavoured crisps after Walkers discontinued their version. Instagram page @uknewestfoods posted a picture of the all-new Marmite x Tayto collab, and in the caption, they penned: "Marmite Crisps are back!! And we must say, the flavour is SO much stronger! Walkers confirmed in December last year that the nation's beloved Marmite Crisps would be discontinued, but now we know why! Marmite are now in collaboration with Tayto instead of Walkers and the Marmite crisps are back!!"

A Walkers spokesperson said: "We said goodbye to Walkers Baked Beetroot with Sweet Chilli Jam in 2021 and we're sorry to have disappointed fans of the flavour. Walkers Baked is consistently one of our most popular ranges and is non-HFSS, with delicious flavours including our most recently launched Cheese and Jalapeño providing healthier alternatives for crisp lovers without compromising on taste."
