A professional cleaner has revealed three cleaning mistakes we are likely making in our homes - and they are eye-opening.
Amber Elise, who posts under the name @bubblesandbuckets, shared a video in which she spoke about her pet peeves when it comes to cleaning, including one common kitchen habit.
"Using the sponge in your sink to wipe down your countertops," Amber begins her video, which has been posted on TikTok. "These harbour so much bacteria so instead of using that, grab yourself a microfiber towel."
Next up - using too much product. According to Amber, "If you use too much, it's just going to create a residue and film that's left behind, and create more of a mess that's left for you to clean up."
And finally - wiping up a product too soon. "If you're disinfecting your countertops, be sure to read the label on the bottle. Usually the product has to sit for five-ten minutes before it actually disinfects."

Amber's followers were quick to comment, with many admitting they were guilty of at least one of the common mistakes. "Leaving cleaners to sit for a bit is such a great tip," one said, while a second echoed: "I didn't know I was supposed to let the product sit a little while to disinfect. Thank you!"
It comes after a cleaner shared a video online detailing some of the viral hacks that people should follow.
Brogan, best known for her TikTok page Not The Worst Cleaner , revealed five 'tips' we should avoid - including putting laundry detergent on a cloth and wrapping it around a pan lid to clean sofas.
"Honestly it's just spreading dirt around, you can't scrub, and it's not lifting any product," Brogan says. "Detergents are highly concentrated so it will leave behind residue and destroy fabric over time."
Another hack to avoid is using a bottle of multi-purpose cleaner Fabulosa in the back of your toilet. The product is designed to be used to get rid of dirt in sinks, toilets, baths, showers, and floors, and it can also be used on counters, windows, mirrors, and walls, according to the company's website.
Many people have been placing it in their toilet tank in a bid to make their toilet smell nice. But Brogan said this could leave you with plumbing problems.
She explained: "This is not recommended by any plumber, not only can it be corrosive but it can actually degrade the rubber and seals."
