Liverpool fans seem equally as angry as Reds manager Jurgen Klopp over Moises Caicedo's brutal tackle on Ryan Gravenberch that ended the Dutchman's Carabao Cup final.

With less than 23 minutes on the clock, Liverpool's summer signing from Bayern Munich was taken off on a stretcher due to being caught late by Caicedo. Gravenberch attempted a pass down the line and long after the ball had been released, was left crocked by the poor attempt to cut out the pass by Chelsea's £115million man.

Klopp was clearly seething in his technical area, berating both referee Chris Kavanagh and the fourth official. Such was the level of his fury, the Liverpool boss had to be calmed down by assistant coach Pep Ljinders before any action could be taken against the Reds boss.

His issue stemmed from the fact Caicedo managed to come away from the whole exchange without so much as a yellow card. Klopp was not the only one angered by the incident, with a plenthora of Liverpool fans quick to make their fury clear on social media.

Many referenced the fact that Caicedo nearly became a Liverpool player himself last summer, only to snub a move to Anfield in favour of a Stamford Bridge switch from former club Brighton instead. The Reds actually had a bid accepted by the Seagulls, but the Ecuador international wanted west London.

After ending Gravenberch's Carabao Cup final less than half an hour after kick-off, one disgruntled Liverpool fan wrote on X: "I am glad that Caicedo is not a LFC player. Week in, week out he is seeking to injure players: he has committed several fouls already and not seen a card."

Another wrote: "So glad we never signed Caicedo, he shouldn't be allowed on the pitch," while a fellow Liverpool fan wrote something similar as they posted: "Caicedo is a f****** donkey. So glad he didn't come."

Sky Sports pundit and ex-Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp made his feelings on the tackle clear, adding: "It's not a great challenge, it's extremely clumsy.

"I think it always is worse when a player's foot is planted. You can see here, as Gravenberch makes the challenge, his foot is planted.

"It looks disgusting. You can see here, Caicedo is not looking where the ball is going. You can see why he comes off. It's definitely a yellow card. I can see why Jurgen Klopp was so upset and disappointed with it."
