Mohamed Salah aired his disgust after seeing Ryan Gravenberch stretchered off during the Carabao Cup final.

The Egyptian forward was forced to watch the game from the sidelines after picking up another injury. He was soon joined by Gravenberch who had to be helped from the pitch after a particularly bruising tackle from Moises Caicedo.

The Chelsea star escaped with just a stern word from the referee, a decision that left Reds boss Jurgen Klopp enraged. Salah was also not particularly happy after appealing with the officials from the sidelines, while he also complained to his injured teammates.

The Egyptian was also spotted shaking his head. While Liverpool were left furious by Caicedo's challenge, former Premier League referee Mike Dean suggested that “it is not serious foul play”, so was not worthy of a dismissal.

Jamie Redknapp also gave his view on the challenge at the break and could see why both Salah and Klopp were annoyed with the decision. Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "It's not a great challenge, it's extremely clumsy.

"I think it always is worse when a player's foot is planted. You can see here, as Gravenberch makes the challenge, his foot is planted. It looks disgusting.

"You can see here, Caicedo is not looking where the ball is going. You can see why he comes off. It's definitely a yellow card. I can see why Jurgen Klopp was so upset and disappointed with it."

Gravenberch was eventually replaced by Joe Gomez. The ill temper of the game boiled over just before the break following a scuffle between Ben Chilwell and Conor Bradley - both players receiving bookings for their roles.

The first-half at Wembley had ended level after an exciting opening period. Former Liverpool star Raheem Sterling had a goal ruled out for offside. He had been set up by fellow forward Nicolas Jackson, but the latter was marginally offside.

Elsewhere, Caoimhin Kelleher also produced a stunning save to deny Blues' forward Cole Palmer. Liverpool, beset by injuries, did have a chance to go ahead through Cody Gakpo but the Dutch forward could only hit the post with his headed effort.

Salah was not the only one of Liverpool's big guns unavailable at Wembley. He was also joined on the sidelines by fellow forwards Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.
