Prince William's 'groundbreaking' gesture to Kate speaks volumes, expert claims

During an informal moment, the Prince and Princess of Wales went head to head in a spinning competition last year - which Kate won - and once again showcased their well-documented competitive natures. However, a body language expert has claimed that the moment shared between the couple was actually pretty telling and revealed a lot about the state of the couple's relationship - and how different William is from his father King Charles.

The expert claimed that one signal sent by William after he had been resoundingly beaten by his wife in the sporting challenge showed something that, for the Royal Family, is truly "groundbreaking".

Spinning - a kind of bike ride on a stationary machine - is one hell of a workout, and Kate took the trophy after trouncing her husband at the endurance-boosting race whilst they were visiting the Aberavon Fitness and Leisure Centre in South Wales in 2023, and she did it whilst wearing heels.

The body language expert, as reported in The Express, said that it was clear both Kate and William gave it their all whilst they were racing, but claimed that the really revealing moment was after Kate had won, which showed what their relationship may be like behind closed doors.

"In terms of their relationship this spin bike contest also illustrates something hugely important. When a couple can compete for earnest like this in public and where Kate can sit with her hands on her hips or placing a consoling hand on her husband's arm as she is given the winner's cup, we are looking at two very sound and solid egos in a very well-balanced, loving relationship.

"Kate has no qualms about showing her husband up like this in public and he looks happy to celebrate her win. For a Windsor male, this is ground-breaking stuff."

James also pointed out that these body-language signals between Kate and William were a far cry from the marriage between William's parents, Charles and Diana, noting that Charles "was famously competitive about their levels of popularity with the public and his jealousy was said to be one more nail in the coffin of their marriage."

The expert explained, "So for Kate to beat her husband in a spin race and to celebrate that victory while William laughs as he admits defeat, looking proud of his wife rather than jealous of her, is a powerful statement about the strength of their relationship."

Kate and William don't make a huge number of public displays of affection as they go about their official royal duties - a different body language expert has previously claimed that this is due to the formal nature of many of the engagements they attend, and when there is a more casual atmosphere, like at the spinning competition, the public are more likely to see affectionate moments between them.
