Meghan and Harry's contract with Netflix will end in 2025

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing Netflix pulling the plug on their deal after a "disappointing" four years, it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex excited the world when they signed a five-year contract with streaming platform Netflix after they departed the Royal Family in 2020. The deal they signed was worth an estimated £80million ($100million). Due to end in 2025, speculation has recently been rife over what could be next for the pair.

MailOnline columnist Alison Boshoff has claimed that sources have revealed that "Netflix will want to get out of or scale down further, the deal at the earliest contractual opportunity".

Writing in her recent column, Ms Boshoff said: "I’m told, by well-placed sources with knowledge of the deal, that the association has been disappointing all round, with Harry and Meghan drawing a relatively meagre amount from the streamer — thought to amount to as little as £16million ($20 million) for them personally, all in."

Since signing with Netflix, the Sussexes have worked on several projects, including their bombshell six-part docuseries Harry & Meghan, which hit the streaming platform in December 2022. Harry has also worked on his documentary Heart of Invictus, with the couple's latest project with the streamer being a film adaptation of Carley Fortune's best-selling romance novel Meet Me at the Lake.

But last month speculation that the Sussexes could jump ship from Netflix to Paramount was sparked when the couple made a rare public appearance when they attended the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Kingston, Jamaica. The couple were seen posing on the red carpet together, which came after they were allegedly invited by the CEO of Paramount Pictures.

"Their eyes will now be set on finding the next big multi-million-pound deal," Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR told The Mirror at the time. The Hollywood guru went on to add that "it seems like Paramount could be a potential contender if they are close to Brian Robbins, the head of Paramount".
