There's one unspoken rule when it comes to wedding guest outfits - but one woman didn't seem to listen.

We all know wearing white to a wedding is a major no-go, however red is off the list too, according to the principal of The British School of Etiquette Philip Sykes, who says a red outfit is considered rude. And now one woman has been slammed for wearing a sheer, revealing red dress on someone's big day.

She was criticised for stealing the attention from the bride - but it didn't seem as if it was the colour that was enraging people. The controversial outfit has been compared to lingerie and people have even called the woman 'brave' to attempt to upstage the bride in the sultry laced dress.

An image of the guest in the dress was shared on Reddit under the caption: "Hot wedding guests, but talk about stealing attention from the bride with that sheer dress!" The risqué outfit, featuring a corset top and sheer detailing, divided opinion - with some loving the look, and others calling her out for her 'inappropriate' attire.

One fan of the dress wrote: "I don't really understand why this is such a big deal. She looks stunning, depending on the dress code this could definitely be appropriate for a wedding," as a second said: "I actually love this dress. It's stunning, the lace is long enough for it to be appropriate and she's covered in all the right places. Sadly I could never fit into something like this, but if one of my gorgeous friends wore it to my wedding I'd tell them they look beautiful."

Others agreed and said she looked great, but claimed the choice of dress wasn't 'appropriate for a wedding'. One person said: "OOF, someone is making a STATEMENT with that dress! If I had a bod like that I'd dress like that every damn day. However, I feel like she's gotta have some beef with the bride, that dress way too hot for a wedding lol."

Another argued: "This seems a little inappropriate for a family gathering. You have to dress for the event. It's a nice dress but not the right place to wear it," while a third simply added: "Looks like lingerie."
