Prince Harry and Meghan Markle enjoyed a sneaky Valentine's Day date while on an official event in Canada.

With their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at home in Montecito, California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took the rare opportunity to dine out alone, and the lovebirds managed to land a table at a coveted restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia, on Wednesday. Meghan and Harry were spotted leaving the upscale Il Caminetto restaurant in the stunning ski resort via the back entrance and were whisked away to a waiting car.

The 43-year-old looked incredible in a red Valentino coat and was pictured walking arm-in-arm with her husband, who braved the cold in a white shirt underneath a blue jumper. The couple smiled as they were led out of the Italian restaurant by an employee, and managed to navigate the snow-lined streets as they headed back to their hotel.

According to DailyMail.com, Harry and Meghan sat in a “secluded corner” of the main restaurant and were enjoying the ambience of the romantic day. “They were both smiling the whole time and kept touching each other's arms. It was great to see them looking so in love,” a source added. The couple may have enjoyed a bottle of Meghan's favourite Tignanello red wine - the bottle she named her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig after. The luxurious red is priced at CAD $369 (£216), but that wasn’t the most expensive red wine on the menu - there was also a cabernet sauvignon offered at an eye-watering CAD $869 (£510) a bottle.

Specialities on the menu include lobster and saffron linguine, crispy wagyu meatballs, and burrata pugliese, while the main courses feature grilled branzino and octopus for CAD $45.50 (£26) and veal cheek from Quebec at CAD $49.50 (£29). The rstaurant also boasts an extensive Italian cheeseboard, with all the pasta made to order in house by executive chef Mark McLoughlin and his team.

Guests on TripAdvisor rated the restaurant 4.5 out of 5, with many commenting on the high prices of Il Caminetto. “Although expensive, the menu items we had were all delicious and worth every penny,” one wrote following their dining experience. “Fabulous food and service. Order the lobster / saffron pasta & tiramisu. It’s not cheap but the experience and food is worth the price,” another added.
