A tired mum has sparked debate after confessing she left her baby and boyfriend in economy on a flight while she enjoyed a business class seat away from them.

Mums of babies know how nerve-wracking it can be flying with little ones - no one wants their child to disturb the whole flight, and getting them to settle and sleep can be more difficult in the air. Regardless, being a new parent is hard-work, so jetting away abroad could be the perfect way to relax - even if getting there can sometimes be a mammoth task.

Mum Ellis, a British woman who lives in California, confessed that she recently got herself a business class seat on a flight with she could have a break. The content creator, her boyfriend and baby girl spent time in the airport together before she waved goodbye to them on the plane.

Ellis' partner went to find his seat in economy with their baby while she enjoyed all the luxuries of her upgrade.

Taking to her TikTok page @ellcochlin, where she has over 23,000 followers and over 650,000 likes on her videos, Ellis said: "Am I horrible for leaving them both in economy?"

She continued: "It was my only opportunity to have a baby free flight and I took it, what would you do?" But the mum who loves share travel tips and life hacks, divided opinion with her decision - many said the mum deserved the break and should enjoy it, while others dubbed it as unfair to her partner.

"A bit strange but each to their own," one said. "I think you both should have been there for each other and shared the responsibility," another commented.

One other said: "You've spent so much time baby handling solo, I feel you definitely earned this!" Another said: "Don't feel guilty. Us mamas just want to breath alone sometimes."

"You totally deserve this...hope you fly business on the way home too," said another.

One other wrote: "I couldn’t do this to my partner I wouldn’t enjoy the flight at all. Pleased for you though. I really wish I could do it and not feel guilty."
