Mohamed Salah has returned to training to hand a welcome boost to Liverpool's title hopes.

Salah was injured during Egypt's second group game during the Africa Cup of Nations, ruling him out of the rest of the tournament. He returned to Merseyside to complete his rehabilitation, though Egypt were knocked out before he was fit again.

Now, with the Reds seeing their lead at the top of the Premier League slashed by Arsenal and Manchester City, Salah is preparing to return to action. That positive news comes as it was confirmed Sven-Goran Eriksson was confirmed as the manager of the LFC Legends team.

And Arsenal legend Thierry Henry spoke of a new theory on why Jurgen Klopp had decided to leave his role at the end of the season. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool news.

Salah returns to training

Mohamed Salah has been pictured back in training for the first time since he suffered a hamstring injury at the Africa Cup of Nations. Salah was sidelined following the second group game of the tournament.

Salah has returned to first-team training, joining his team-mates for a full session on Tuesday. That would appear to signal he is stepping up his rehab and is almost ready to return to contention.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will take charge of LFC Legends in their annual LFC Foundation charity clash with Ajax Legends. Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge will also be part of the management group.

Eriksson revealed last month that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and may just have a year to live. He also stated his dream of managing Liverpool, with the Reds now able to deliver that for him.

A club statement read: “All connected with the club and LFC Foundation look forward to warmly welcoming LFC fan Sven and his family to Anfield – and seeing him in the dugout on the day - for a fantastic fundraising occasion.”

Henry reveals fresh Klopp theory

Thierry Henry believes Jurgen Klopp is stepping down as Liverpool boss this summer to preserve his sanity. The Arsenal icon has insisted Klopp is making the right move, with the burden for modern-day managers growing.

“That’s a dream job normally and they are stopping. That tells you a story. The pressure, everybody has a voice, social media and whatnot. It is tough to be a manager and no one cares about you. You’re going to have to take care of yourself at one point," he told CBS Sports.

“Liverpool will miss Klopp. We know that, we know that is true. But he was missing his family, he was missing his own time, he was missing his sanity. So good for him. When I got the news, I was like: ‘Good for you.’”
