Meghan Markle 'incredibly envious' of Kate Middleton due to sisterly bond with Prince Harry

Meghan Markle is thought to be 'incredibly envious' of her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, due to her close sisterly bond with Prince Harry, according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex began dating in early 2016, yet Harry and his sister-in-law Kate had held a close bond for many years. Often seen at royal appearances alongside Prince William, the trio was a firm fixture before Meghan joined the fold and was even seen as the Fab Four.

Editor of Majesty magazine and royal author Ingrid Stewart has now pointed out that one reason why Kate and Meghan may no longer be friendly is down to Kate and Harry's previous close relationship. The author even pointed out that Harry had previously "longed" for a sister and found the missing sibling he was looking for in Kate.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Stewart claimed that Kate and Harry's bond could have been one of the sticking points for Meghan and hindered her building a relationship with her in-laws. Stewart explained how potentially Harry was "a little in love" with Kate, and he had "always longed for a sister". She also pointed out the strong bond that Prince William, Harry and Kate had shared as a trio and that before Harry and Meghan's relationship began, Harry was extremely close to his brother William and wife Kate and 'psychologically adored' his new sister.

Stewart added: "I think that Meghan must have been incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate. I heard Meghan actually thought she was going to be a princess and live in Windsor Castle. Instead, there’s William and Kate with this beautiful house, while they are stuck in Nottingham Cottage which Harry used to call 'my hovel'."

Stewart also dismissed the likelihood of a reconciliation between the two brothers and their partners, with Meghan reportedly unhappy with William and Kate seen as more senior royals. Previously an insider told The Telegraph that Meghan 'felt she had more of a right to speak' than Kate due to building her career before entering the royal family. The source said: "She seemed to feel like she had more of a right to speak than her sister-in-law, who had married into the family as an unknown whereas Meghan regarded herself as a philanthropist who could teach the royals a thing or two about charity. I think she found it difficult that the Royal Foundation was already a well oiled machine by the time she got there."
