Toasties, grilled cheese, toasted sandwiches - whatever you call them we can all agree that they're an essential part of British cuisine.
There are many important factors to a good toastie: thick-cut bread, plenty of butter, and of course that all-important cheese pull. Then there's the important decision of whether to add Worcestershire sauce or ketchup - or go full out and caramelise some onions.
You can cut them into triangles or rectangles. It's up to you, but how we cook our once boring and cold sandwiches is changing. In fact, one woman has sworn off pan-frying her beloved toasted sandwiches after discovering a 'game-changing' alternative.
The anonymous woman posted a picture of her lunch on the Facebook group Air Fryer: Easy Recipes. She says she buttered both sides of bread, added garlic salt and loaded the sandwich with a slice of deli ham, a slice of American cheese, and a slice of Gouda.
Then, she preheated her air fryer at 370 Fahrenheit (about 190C) for five minutes before cooking the sandwich for five minutes - flipping it over half way. "Oh my gosh, I tried an air fryer ham and cheese today, game changer. I will never pan fry again," she said. "[It's] totally delicious."

Another commented: "[This is] my favourite cooking method for grilled cheese!" While a third added: "I agree, air fryer toasted cheese is the bomb."
Many users showed off their air-fryer creations, and recommended improving the toastie recipe by using mayonnaise instead of butter. However - others were adamant the only way to make a toasted sandwich is by using a good old-fashioned grill.
