Chris Jones did not go to meet Taylor Swift after a Kansas City Chiefs game, even though Swift has been all about the Kansas City Chiefs since she saw her first game.

After Swift went to her first Chiefs game to support Travis Kelce, the pair invited the team out for dinner, but Jones decided not to take up the invite.

The Chiefs defensive tackle had just come back to the team after missing their first game as part of his hold-out to get a better contract, in fact he claimed he was "too tired" to join them for dinner.

Jones - preparing to suit up for the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday in Las Vegas - has met Swift since then and even says he's a big fan of hers. He's happy for Kelce, but he didn't make a great first impression on Swift when he turned down her invite at the start of the season.

Swift has since said that she and Kelce began dating last summer, keeping it quiet until she appeared at Arrowhead Stadium to watch him play. Swift saw Kelce and the Chiefs win big in her first game and then kept coming to games because she fell for football and wanted to cheer on her new beau. She now faces a race from Tokyo to make Sunday's game in Nevada.

After her first game at Arrowhead, Swift wanted to say hi to Kelce's teammates and get to know them, so she asked them out to dinner. But on "The Rick Eisen Show" on Nov. 16, Jones said he skipped the dinner and went to sleep instead.

"I haven't, I haven't yet," Jones shared when asked if he'd met Swift before. "The first time she came she invited us all to dinner but I was so tired, it was like my second game back. I was like 'I'm exhausted' so I went home and I got in bed."

Jones had been unhappy with his contract with the Chiefs, leading him to skip practices and spectate their first match against the Lions. After the Chiefs lost 21-20, they quickly sorted things out, giving Jones a new one-year deal worth up to $25 million with incentives.

Swift and Jones didn't meet until Nov. 20, when they went out as a team after a 21-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. "I think when she comes this Monday, we are all going to go out, looking forward to it," Jones said, getting pumped up for their next game versus the Eagles.

"Kelce invited a bunch of guys. I didn't turn it down I was just too tired to go." Swift now knows the squad well, and despite Jones skipping Week 1, it didn't hamper them in the end. The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl where they'll compete against the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11.
