Two police officers have been hospitalised after they were "poisoned by a substance concealed in paperwork" that left them struggling to breathe.

Little Gaston Stone, 51, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault against an officer after he allegelly brought in paperwork laced with a drug-like substance on February 6.

According to officers, the substance left officers at the Symrna Police Department in Georgia with " 'extreme fatigue, chest pain, chest tightness, dizziness and difficulty in breathing."

The suspect is accused of walking into the department's officers, which he had recorded on a tablet device, and tried to strike up a conversation regarding Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

Stone, who was already on 12 months probation for a separate case, was arrested the same day and detained without bond at the Cobb jail.

And in 2004, he served a year in jail after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and battery, with nine years to be served on probation.

The alleged poisoning comes after a man was accused of having poisoned his wife to death had drugged her before and had 'several mistresses', according to an affidavit.
