While at an air ambulance event, Prince William said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all."

Last night at Salisbury Cathedral, Camilla said: "He’s (Charles) doing extremely well under circumstances. We are very touched by all of the letters and messages."

Prince Harry has not mentioned his father but he has spoken publicly. Princess Anne has also been out in public but has not mentioned her older brother.

Harry appeared in public for the first time since his father’s diagnosis on Thursday night and while introducing the award joked that the United States “stole rugby from us and you made it your own”.

“All kidding aside, what you guys do on and off the field is truly remarkable. You are role models for millions in the way you carry yourselves and the way you give back.

“This final award, the highest honour, is all about serving your community, and there is one special man we’d like to pay tribute to now.”

"Kate had looked tearful at the very moving service the previous evening and she sustained a very solemn facial expression here but Camilla adopted a ‘beatific’ smile which is a gesture associated with calm, quiet happiness." But an incident just as the service was closing caught her attention.

In it, Kate appeared to remind Camilla about royal hierarchy, given that the former is a princess and the latter a queen. Judi elaborated: "There was a moment at the end of the service when both women seemed to define the way that the late Queen’s death has left them still needing small royal hierarchical reminders or cues.

"Camilla turned her head towards the interior but it seemed to need Kate to say ‘after you’ as she turned in the same direction. Camilla threw her wide, affectionate smile of what looked like gratitude as the two women stepped elegantly inside."

It's been reported Harry could be looking to secure a TV deal for the Games following his Heart of Invictus docuseries. It's claimed he has already hired a sports TV executive who has previously overseen live coverage of big sporting events such as the Olympics and the World Cup.

The move, if correct, has been praised by a PR to the celebs, who believes it would be a "logical" and "perfect" decision. Jane Owen told the Mirror: "I think it would be a great move on his part to make the most out of his position and relationship with The Invictus Games. It's a great project that he's got a lot of knowledge about and genuine passion for.

Harry has returned to California after a swift visit to see his father. Now as the monarch prepares for treatment, friends have revealed how the family is supporting him. A source told the Mirror: "King Charles will be in the best hands. He will have the best care.

"Everyone is praying for him and willing him to get better so he can enjoy his time as king. The timing of this all seems very unfair, but everyone is behind him and keeping his spirits up. He is a friend to many and they appreciate all he does."

It is understood Charles will receive "a pioneering and less invasive treatment" as he embarks on his battle against cancer. The King is expected to return to London for "highly specialised" hospital treatment as an outpatient once a week, staying at his Clarence House home.

Paramedic tells Queen 'we are all really sad to hear the news' about the King

The Queen left Charles at Sandringham to fulfil her royal engagement at Salisbury Cathedral tonight and among the first people she met were medical staff from Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Ben Abbott, 40, a critical care paramedic, said: “I do hope His Majesty is doing well Ma’am, we’re all really sad to hear the news.”

Camilla replied: “Well he’s doing extremely well under the circumstances, he’s very touched by all the letters and the messages the public have been sending from everywhere – that’s very cheering.”

The Queen has a home in Lacock, Wiltshire, and she chatted with the air ambulance medics about their work. Mr Abbott said: “I told her we always wave when we fly over Lacock and she said she always waves back.”

The Queen also met representatives from a number of other charities including the Colonel’s Fund, Grenadier Guards before enjoying a private musical concert with guests compered by Paul Martin, host of BBC’s Flog It!.

Prince Harry 'took it upon himself' to return to UK after King Charles' cancer news

Prince Harry is reported to have "taken it upon himself" to return to the UK amid his father's upsetting cancer news.

The Duke of Sussex jetted from LA to London earlier this week after he found out that his father had been diagnosed with cancer. Flying for 10-hours across the Atlantic, Harry was reported to have spent around half an hour with his father when visiting him.

And the brief visit and meeting might have been due to the fact that Harry is said to have "caused some disquiet" by "taking it upon himself" to fly to the UK and visit his father without an invite and at such short notice.

According to Robert Jobson writing for MailOnline, the King was "unhappy about what amounted to a fait accompli served up by an emotional but well-meaning son". He added that Charles just needs peace and quiet, and had planned to fly off to Norfolk with his wife, Queen Camilla, much earlier on Tuesday than he was able to following the arrival of Harry.

"It is striking that Harry was not invited to stay at Clarence House or, indeed, at any other royal residence. So last-minute was the decision to fly, that he had to book a hotel room for the night," Mr Jobson wrote for the paper.

He added: "This impromptu visit, while well-intentioned, has served as a sad reminder of the continuing rift within the family, a burden Charles can ill afford in his current state when all his energy must be focused on the challenge of his health."

It has been a difficult few weeks for Prince William and Queen Camilla as they have seen their loved ones in hospital over health problems.

"Kate and Camilla already had a very close relationship and I'm sure that in between caring for Charles, she will be popping round to see Kate. This whole situation will actually bring Camilla and William closer together because at the moment it's nurse William and nurse Camilla who will be trying to make their spouses' lives easier and gently reminding them to get as much rest as possible."

Traditionally, members of the Royal Family have kept their medical issues secret but Charles has taken the step to share his diagnosis. Speaking to The Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond speculated it was Camilla who persuaded him to be open about what he's going through.

She said: "I’m sure Camilla will have encouraged the King to break with royal tradition and be open about his diagnosis. She’s a very straightforward person, which is one of the most refreshing things about her.

"And, when she’s not out on manoeuvres for the firm, she’ll be fussing over him like any other doting wife. Stephen Fry has praised the King for revealing his cancer diagnosis to the public, but said he is “anxious” for him.

The 66-year-old actor and comedian, who had prostate cancer in 2018, said Charles’ “very swift modernising” of the monarchy now includes “an openness about something as personal and indelicate as a cancer”.

The King has postponed all public-facing duties, but is continuing with behind-the-scenes work on his red boxes of state papers.

Princess Anne speaks out after receiving messages of support

Princess Anne has publicly acknowledged King Charles' health battles by thanking those who have extended words of support.

The 73-year-old was visiting a charity pony centre in London when she smiled and said "thank you" as the chief executive of the British Horse Society (BHS), of which she is vice-patron, told her: "On behalf of all of us here I would like to pass on our sincere thoughts to His Majesty the King at this time and to your family."

The monarch’s sister appeared in good spirits as she toured the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre in west London today, just three days after the King announced his shock cancer diagnosis. During her engagement at the pony club, the Princess Royal kept the focus on the work of its founder, Sister Mary Joy Langdon, and the celebration of the charity’s 35th anniversary.

She paid tribute to Sister Mary Joy in a two-minute speech, describing her contribution and commitment as 'exceptional', before she unveiled a plaque commemorating the visit. "We owe her a debt of gratitude for that commitment here," the Princess said, "It was a pretty muddy field then, and probably still quite a muddy field now.

"But all of the things that have happened since then are a testament to her understanding of people and of the ponies and the horses that work together with them. Harry switched flights to get home quicker to Meghan after brief meeting with King

It has emerged that following his brief UK visit, Prince Harry switched flights in order to get home quicker to LA to be with his wife Meghan Markle and their kids.

The Duke of Sussex is back in California, having been spotted exiting a Delta flight that landed at LAX at 6.16 pm local time on Wednesday. It is believed the Prince caught the Delta flight because the British Airways flight he was expected to take was "delayed by two hours", as per reports.

It comes after Harry flew from LA to London earlier this week following the upsetting news that his father had been diagnosed with cancer after a procedure at hospital saw him undergo tests. Harry reportedly spent just half an hour with his father after making the journey to visit him following his health news.

Macmillan Cancer Support records surge in visits to website thanks to 'King Charles effect'

A cancer charity has seen a “King Charles effect” with a surge in visits to its website.

Macmillan Cancer Support said the monarch's openness about his diagnosis meant its information and support pages saw 48,304 hits on Monday, when the news broke. This represents a 42% increase on the same day last year and is the highest daily figure since at least March 2020.

Buckingham Palace said the King had been diagnosed with cancer after a “separate issue of concern was noted” during treatment for his benign prostate condition. Charles has been patron of Macmillan for more than 20 years, having taken up the role in 1997.

The charity’s chief executive, Gemma Peters, said: “Our thoughts remain with His Majesty The King and his family during what must be a very difficult time. We hope that, by sharing his diagnosis so publicly and at such an early stage, the King will encourage others to come forward and speak to their GP if they are worried about any signs or symptoms.

“At Macmillan, we hear day in, day out about the huge impact a cancer diagnosis can have on all areas of a person’s life, their work, as well as their friends and family. Just as the King wants to continue to carry out his state duties, we understand that many people either want to or have to continue to work during their treatment.

The unexpected diagnosis was revealed in a private phone call between Charles and Prince Harry on Monday, prompting him to make a frantic dash from his home in Montecito, California, to London to be by his father’s side. However, he made the journey without wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Royal author Angela Levin claimed the Duchess of Sussex would not be happy with the reconciliation, no matter how brief. “Meghan is not coming with him and I think that Harry has a big mountain to climb if he does become very close to his father again,” she told GB News.

“I don't think she will be pleased whatsoever. And he's got this rock that he's in, whether he upsets Meghan or he upsets his father,” Angela explained, as she revealed she doesn’t believe the reunion between Harry and Charles will end their estrangement because of Meghan’s involvement. “I don't think that will happen because Meghan will not let him."

King to get 'pioneering' treatment for his cancer

King Charles will receive "a pioneering and less invasive treatment" as he embarks on his battle against cancer, it is understood.

The King is expected to return to London for "highly specialised" hospital treatment as an outpatient once a week, staying at his Clarence House home. The monarch is likely to return to Sandringham in Norfolk for the remainder of the week to rest and recuperate, it is understood. A source said: "Cancer treatment has come on in leaps and bounds in past years and are smarter than was the case previously. The efficacy and side effects are therefore significantly improved."

Buckingham Palace has so far refused to confirm what form of cancer the King has, although it's understood that it is not prostate cancer.

Prince Harry 'took it upon himself' to return to UK

Prince Harry is reported to have "taken it upon himself" to return to the UK amid his father's upsetting cancer news.

The Duke of Sussex jetted from LA to London earlier this week after he found out that his father had been diagnosed with cancer. Flying for 10-hours across the Atlantic, the Duke was reported to have spent around half an hour with his father when visiting him.

Why Prince William will take another break from royal duties

Yesterday, Prince William made his return to royal duties with two very different engagements.

In the morning, he held an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle handing out a series of awards before attending a glamorous gala later that night in aid of the London Air Ambulance.

But despite getting back to work, it seems the 41-year-old will not be carrying out more engagements for at least a week. William is set to take next week off to look after his three children - Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight and Prince Louis, five - who are on half term break from school, as Kate continues her recovery.
