King Charles walking Meghan Markle down the aisle has gone viral

Meghan Markle being walked down the aisle by King Charles on her wedding day has gone viral on TikTok following the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

The Duchess Of Sussex was given away at her wedding to Prince Harry by Charles when her father Thomas Markle could no longer attend when he suffered two heart attacks just before the ceremony on May 19, 2018. Meghan and her father then became estranged when he was found to have staged paparazzi pictures for money having denied the allegations to Meghan and Harry.

Charles then stepped in to help his future daughter-in-law by walking her down the aisle at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. The touching moment came years before the rift that drove the Royal family apart.

A clip has now been viewed almost 900k times and liked over 54k times at the time of writing after being posted on TikTok following the announcement from Buckingham Palace on Monday, February 5 that King Charles has been diagnosed with an unspecified cancer.

The TikTok video was shared with the caption "Get well King Charles" and a second caption reading: "With the devastating news about King Charles being diagnosed with cancer, I will always have SO much respect for him walking Meghan Markle down the aisle at her wedding with her dad being absent."

The clip also includes footage from the couple's Netflix series Harry & Meghan where they talk about Charles. In the footage Meghan said: "Harry's dad is very charming. And I said to him, like, 'I've lost my dad in this.' So him, as my father-in-law, was really important to me. So I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said 'yes.' The whole thing was surreal. It was at that moment I could see H."

Harry added: "My father helped us choose an orchestra, which made all the difference" The Duke then confessed that as he saw Meghan walking towards him he thought: "Look at me. Look what I got. Look what I found. The world was watching us, but when we were at the altar, as far as I was concerned, it was just the two of us."

Meghan added: "I knew that when I got to the actual castle - how funny is that to say 'When we got to the castle for my wedding' - that there would be tons of people. What I didn't know is people would be lining both sides of the street. I mean, this was a 15-minute drive."
