King Charles sent a defiant message with his choice of car for his first public outing since being diagnosed with cancer, it has been claimed.
The Monarch made a short trip from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace this afternoon and took a helicopter to Sandringham, where he will stay for the foreseeable. He made the journey with Queen Camilla in the State Bentley, a stunning dark red car modified for the late Queen.
As well as being a striking design and colour, it also has massive windows which allowed those gathering outside the Palaces to get a full look at the King - who began his treatment yesterday. He looked emotional as he waved and smiled as those waiting to see him.
The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers believes the King chose this particular car as he wanted to be seen before he bravely takes on the next few weeks.

Instead of a 4x4 with blacked out windows, he made the journey in the State Bentley - a striking red classic that you can spot a mile off with huge windows allowing him to be seen from all angles.

"With Queen Camilla at his side, he looked emotional as he smiled and waved to waiting well-wishers.
"The choice of car may have been a random choice, but it feels like a message to those around the world who have come out to send messages of support and best wishes in the last 24 hours. He wanted to be seen - and to see those waiting to see him - as he bravely prepares for the difficult challenges ahead.
"Sources have said he's feeling "wholly positive" about the treatment plan, and today's gesture to well-wishers feels in line with that."

Before leaving Clarence House, Charles spoke with Prince Harry - who rushed back to the UK after learning about his dad's health news.
The Duke of Sussex landed at Heathrow early afternoon and was seen being driven to his father's London residence. Dressed all in black, he looked sombre as he looked out the car window. It's not known how long Harry will remain in the UK, but he's due in Canada for an Invictus Games event next week.
