EastEnders viewers were disgusted after noticing something questionable in the background of a scene between Denzel Danes and Avani Nandra-Har.

The BBC programme is pushed back to tomorrow due to a football game but some eager fans rushed to iPlayer to watch the drama ahead of schedule. One part of the episode saw Denzel walk into the chicken shop McKlunky's to apologise to Avani for accidentally hitting her too hard during a session at the Boxing club.

While they discussed the boxing blunder, an extra working as a chicken shop cook could be seen cooking food in the background. However, some viewers noticed how the extra used the tongs to scratch an itch on his nose. Despite no real food being used or cooked, viewers were still revolted by the moment. They rushed to social media to discuss the less-than-hygienic scene with others.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, one user commented: "Did anyone else notice the guy in McKlunkeys wipes his nose with the food/serving tongs. Yuck," along with a vomiting emoji. Another viewer replied to the post with a simple: "LMAOOOO NAH" a laughing emoji.

It comes after viewers tweeted about a possible new twist for Denzel after trouble last week. A group of school kids attacked the character after he dared to take on troublemaker Logan, who had taunted his girlfriend Amy Mitchell. Amid Logan's age sparking confusion among viewers, the character teased Amy over her recent mental health battle, with the character self-harming.

Denzel ended up having a go at the character, only for him to be attacked by Logan and some others down an alley. As Yolande Trueman raced to help him she fell over, leaving the group laughing at her before running off. The fact that Denzel couldn't take on Logan and was unable to help Yolande has left him embarrassed and struggling. In the fallout, he hit the gym and took on boxing with pal Nugget to build up his strength.

Last week, he concerned his pals when he ignored them while obsessing over gym videos and eating chicken "for protein". He even ditched Amy in favour of the gym. Viewers watching the scenes unfold were convinced there was more to the scenes, and that a new storyline was being signalled for the teenager after seeing him glued to his phone. A key theory was that Denzel would become obsessed with the gym and fitness, and might even turn to steroid use after the incident with Logan.
