Geri Horner is in 'floods of tears' over her husband being the subject of an investigation after being accused of 'inappropriate behaviour' towards a female colleague.

Christian Horner, 50, is being investigated by an independent lawyer who has been appointed to examine the allegations made by the female colleague. The Red Bull parent company has hired the investigators to carry out the probe into Christian, who is team principal of the energy drinks giant's primary Formula 1 team.

Red Bull Racing’s Austria-based parent company read: "After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister.

"The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time." The Red Bull chief has said: "I completely deny these claims."

A source close to Geri, 51, who is best known as Spice Girl's Ginger Spice, told The Sun: "Geri has been in floods of tears all weekend while looking after her kids. She is insisting Christian has done nothing wrong.”

The former racing driver and Geri married at a church wedding in Woburn, Bedfordshire in 2015. The couple share a seven-year-old son while Christian has a daughter from a previous relationship and Geri also has a 17-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Geri gushed over her husband last year, in November, as she celebrated his 50th birthday with a sweet video. She shared a series of loved-up throwback snaps including one of the couple enjoying a holiday on a lavish yacht.

In the video, she said: "You are my best friend. I love you more than words can say and I'm so grateful that you're in my life. I think you're an amazing person, you're kind, you're loving, you're generous.

"I'm just really really grateful and I just want to wish you the best, this new chapter in your life, just brilliance. You're an amazing man and I just want to wish you happy, happy birthday. I love you."

Geri threw her husband a surprise birthday party with Gary Barlow, Ronnie Wood and Sir Rod Stewart among those in attendance. Sharing a post thanking his wife, Christian uploaded a picture of Gary Barlow on the piano while the rest of the guests serenaded him. He captioned the post: "Last night my lovely wife Geri completely surprised me with a totally unexpected dinner with some lovely friends. Looks like we're forming a band."
