Piers Morgan told Jamie Carragher that Arsenal and their fans were "going to enjoy every second" after the ex-Liverpool man took issue with their post-match celebrations.

The Gunners roared back into the Premier League title race with a 3-1 win over the Reds. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both scored in the second-half to seal the three points and sent the Emirates into raptures at full-time.

Mikel Arteta was his usual animated self on the touchline and raced down the line to celebrate with the fans as Arsenal sealed the win. Captain Martin Odegaard meanwhile was seen taking the camera off the club's photographer and getting him to pose in front of the supporters.

Carragher, who was commentating on Sky Sports, said: "Just get down the tunnel, you've won a game, it's three points. You've been brilliant, they're back in the title race, get down the tunnel. I'm serious, honestly."

Morgan, a devout Arsenal fan, responded to the pundit on social media: "Calm down, calm down, @Carra23 - we battered you, and we’re going to enjoy every second." Carragher admitted he nearly walked out of the studio before Morgan fired back: "Your pain only adds to the joy."

Arsenal's win closes the gap at the top to two points with the Reds still on top. The result in north London also opens the door for defending champions Manchester City, who are five points off the summit but with two games in hand.

Last term, when the north Londoners led the way for the majority of the season, they were criticised for overcelebrating. Eventually City chased them down with some citing the young team as being too emotional and Gary Neville felt Sunday's antics were not that of champions.

He said: "The celebrations at the end I don’t think were of a team that thought they were going to go on and win the title. I think they were of a team that didn’t want to be out of a title race, and that was the relief that we saw at the end. I agree with what Gael [Clichy] said about the word ruthless.

"I think Arsenal, when I watch them, are a better team than Liverpool but I think Liverpool are a more ruthless team, they’re more ruthless in the final third. And I think that could just cost them in the end, and that’s me having said at the start of the season I thought Arsenal would win the league."
