Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden has shared an update on her health as she continues to battle breast cancer.

The 33-year-old dancer revealed that she was back in hospital for an MRI scan. She said in a video: "Hello everyone, I know it's been a while since I've spoken to you lot. I've got to my hospital appointment early so I thought I'd come on."

"You're probably thinking, 'that's strange', a hospital appointment on a Sunday, but I've got an MRI scan and I think it's so amazing that the NHS offer a seven day week appointment for MRIs."

Amy then admitted that she's hoping that the latest scan will be her last for a while, and that it feels "strange coming to the hospital on a Sunday. But at the same time, with my life the last few months it doesn't," she mused. "But yeah, I can't believe we're into February already. I'm glad to see the back of that long month of January, especially when it was a very different January for what I'm used to."

Following this, Amy steered to a more positive note, and expressed how grateful she was that she was able to enjoy "a few days away" with her husband, Ben. "I just want to say thank you and I'm really grateful for all the lovely comments that we've received from you guys about our trip away. So thank you thank you thank you and I hope you all have a lovely Sunday," Amy concluded.

Shortly after she posted the footage, Amy dropped a pic of her in a hospital gown ready for the MRI. She typed alongside the snap: "It doesn't matter how many times you have tests you never get used to it and I feel your anxiety only gets worse. Smile on my face but deep down just get this over wish."

A couple of hours later and Amy was done and dusted with the scan. She shared another photo to her stories of the MRI, before adding that she was heading out on a "lovely dog walk." Meanwhile, Amy dropped a World Cancer Day post to her grid on Sunday 4 February, where she shared snaps of previous treatments from over the last few months. In the caption, she pledged to keep raising awareness so that "hopefully one day" there'll be a cure.

Plenty of her fans commented on the post to wish Amy well, as one user said: "You are such a fighter Amy." Another echoed: "Forever proud of how you've navigated your way through this incredibly tough journey - you're an amazing strong woman."

A third added: "I will always be in awe of you and your strength especially how you chose to share your experience with cancer to the world."
