Miley changed from her racy chainlink dress into a black, sleek backless jumpsuit that was held together at her neck. The dress had a cut down the middle, exposing her sternum.

Her fellow nominees - Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish - were all smiling ear to ear as Miley went up to accept her award. The Best of Both Worlds singer was ecstatic to receive it from Mariah.

"This MC is gonna stand by this MC for this because its too iconic," Miley said, referencing her and Mariah's similar initials.

Miley thought she would miss the moment because she was stuck in rain and traffic. "I could've missed the award, that's fine. But not Mariah Carey," she added.

She mentioned that she was sitting in the third seat and that three was her lucky number. She then told a story about a little boy wanting a butterfly.

He got a butterfly net for his birthday and tried to catch one to no avail. "He finally let go and he surrendered and he was okay that he wasn't going to capture this beautiful butterfly," she said, "And right when he did is when the butterfly came and landed at the tip of his nose. And this song flowers is my butterfly, thank you."

Fans were so excited for the former Disney star, as she finally got recognition from the Academy. " Miley Cyrus finally got a Grammy. that’s my childhood star I’m proud of my sis. Idgaf SHE DESERVES," one fan said on Twitter.

Another added: "Miley Cyrus is so gagged Mariah Carey presented her Grammy she doesn't even care about the damn award win."

Later in the show when she performed Flowers live, she exclaimed in the middle of the song: "I just won my first Grammy!"
