The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of 'staging' their appearance in Jamaica

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "can't be trusted" after pulling a "publicity stunt", it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a rare public appearance last month when they attended the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Kingston, Jamaica. The couple flew from Montecito to Jamaica for the glitzy occasion after having been invited by a fellow Montecito resident, the CEO of Paramount Pictures.

A royal expert has now weighed in on the appearance last week in Kingston - after posing with Ziggy Marley and the Jamaican Prime Minister - with the expert branding it "staged", with them even noting how it proves that the Sussexes "are not to be trusted".

Speaking to The Express, Richard Fitzwilliams has said that Harry and Meghan "clearly staged this appearance in Jamaica because they knew it would get a huge amount of publicity during a difficult week for the Royal Family". He then noted how it was around the time that King Charles was going into the hospital amid headlines that the Princess of Wales was recovering from abdominal surgery.

"This appearance by the Sussexes was no accident," added. Mr Fitzwilliams then said that the appearance has likeled "reinforced" the Royal Famuly's views that the Sussexes "are not to be trusted", with him noting "it seems a deliberate ploy by the couple to remind the wider world of the pull their brand could have had in the Commonwealth".

Mr Fitzwilliams then touched on how the Sussexes posed at the event with Andrew Holness, the Prime Minister of Jamaica. The expert noted how he had "made it clear during the Waleses visit in March 2022 that the country would become a republic".

The Jamaican Prime Minister, Mr Holness, has long been a critic of his country's relationship with the Commonwealth and the British monarchy. He is known for having formally announced plans for the country to become an independent republic in 2022.
